Devin Long was born in 1994 and raised in Norwalk, Connecticut. Their introduction to painting came at a young age.

They attended MICA (Maryland Institute College of Art), majoring in Painting and concentrating in Sustainability & Social Practice, earning a BFA in 2018. Along the way, Long exhibited at City Arts in Baltimore and Cartavetra in Florence, Italy. Their thesis centered on the internal phenomena of hypnagogia, a theme with potential continuity for years to come.

In 2023 and 2024, they exhibited artwork in an international group exhibition called “The Fl3tch3r Exhibit”, held annually (with the exception of 2025, after facing backlash). In its last year at The Reece Museum at ETSU, the political exhibition earned the attention of Tennessee’s representatives. A Republican in the House of Representatives mentioned Long’s sculpture titled “Patriot” in a letter to the dean. Hyperallergic interviewed Long, along with two other artists, as part of the publication’s highlight of the exhibition and the censorship it faced.

Most recently, from 2025 to 2026, Long took part in their first residency at The Norwalk Art Space, located in their hometown.
